Harvest 2024

The 2024 vintage made its debut with a mild winter characterized by some rainfall, which partially helped to replenish the soil’s water reserves after a dry summer.

In spring, the vegetative recovery of the vine occurred in a mild climate, with budburst happening regularly according to the typical timing for each variety. Bud development was rapid from the start, aided by a period of fine weather between April and the first part of May. The arrival of a meteorologically unstable phase, marked by frequent rains, especially between late May and June, not only fully replenished the soil’s water deficit but also required significant agronomic effort to preserve the vine’s phytosanitary condition during the pre-flowering stage.

The summer was characterized by frequent rains and high temperatures that prevented drought problems but requiring more attention in vineyard management. At the end of August, during the grape thinning operations, it already seemed clear that the harvest would not be early.

Harvesting began on September 26 with Dolcetto d’Alba, followed by Merlot and Barbera d’Alba on October 2. Nebbiolo was harvested in the second week of October, followed by the harvest of the Barolo Cannubi vineyard on October 13. The harvest was partly affected by bad weather, Nebbiolo at Castellero was harvested on October 14 and finished on the 21st, in San Giovanni on October 21, and finally at Monrobiolo di Bussia on October 22.
In general, one can expect fine and elegant wines with moderate but well-balanced alcohol levels.
